I took some photos of what the sweater looks like on me, so I can remember my mistakes. I am heavier than I would like, but as the photo shows, the snugness of the button-upped version makes me look like a sausage ready to bust out. That is never a good look.
Also to make a visual difference, I decided to change the color of the stripe. I wasn't super happy with the yellow. The original had orange stripes, but I decided to help myself out and make the stripes be more of a lighter version of the gray. I think the monochromatic look would help negate any widening the stripes would add to my middle.
On a side note, I thought I'd mention some of the things I like to do while knitting. Since Paulie is knitted using fingerling-weight yarn on size 3mm needles, having something to make the time go by a little faster is helpful. And I don't know if you caught this, but the sweater is knit from the top down and that top is in garter stitch, so yeah, I need a little motivation to get through all those stitches.
I like to keep busy and feel like I'm multitasking. Having something to listen to has always been comforting to me. I'm a NPR junkie, was totally obsessed with Serial, and an avid fan of both Stuff You Should Know and Stuff You Missed in History Class. But for Paulie's redo, I needed to concentrate on the increases and not fiddle with my phone, so I blew through Ready Player One. I think it got me through the stockinette point, so I'll be able to catch up on some video watching, which is good, because I'm behind on some The Mindy Project and Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes.
